Garnet Hill
December 27, 2008

Don't know whether it was the closeness to Christmas, the dismal forecast, or the advanced driving conditions, but turnout was disappointing, for the first fewer skiers participated than controls were hung.

With the ski operation at Garnet Hill under new manager Thomas Merkt, grooming has changed. In the past almost every trail was corduroy but now the secondary trails are left in a more natural condition. I did my best to portray each on the map correctly with solid green, dashed green, and dotted. I think I got most of them right, but did hear some complaints.

The format was 2-hour score-o with three ungroomed controls worth 2 points, nearby ones worth 1, and five distant spots worth three each. Remarkably we had no overtimes. Two skiers got them all- David Hunter and Chris Frielinghaus.
